Before I was a stay-at-home Mom, I was a Marketing professional. And I looooved my job. And you know what?...I was really good at it too. I worked with so many fun and intelligent people, who also happened to be my friends (Hi Heidi!). I got to design marketing plans and creative strategies. I got to look at all kinds of fun analytics and strategize with the team. I got taken out to the nicest dinners I've ever eaten and spent days at the spa getting pampered. I got to fly all over the country on business trips. Oh, those years were so fun.
But in 2008, I entered into the next season of life & career.... Motherhood. And it was then that I got to fulfill a dream of being a stay-at-home mom. My husband and I didn't enter into it lightly. We prayed and planned for it for several years knowing that this was the path for us. I didn't quit my job because I was bored, or burnt out, or hating what I was doing. I simply just switched from one fun job to another. And boy are they different! But I've never felt that the one I'm doing now is any less fulfilling or challenging or sanctifying than the one I was doing before. I certainly gave up some really fun perks. But I've never regretted the decision. I can whole-heartedly say it's been worth it.
Still, God has never put out that fire in my heart to pursue creativity, whether that be in business or art. He never let me give up on the idea to use my gifts. And most importantly, to never lose the woman I am, the woman who existed before children came along. The woman He artfully created me to be - with a purpose.
I love business, photography, art, graphic design, writing, reading and community. Which is why blogging and owning my own Etsy shop are the perfect blend for me during this season of life. It's a way for me to stay at home with my children, stay in tune with my passions, and most importantly, give glory to God. That is my heart's desire.
When I saw the announcement about this blogging conference, my heart got all fluttery and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.
It's a whole weekend dedicated to connecting with other women of faith, dreaming up big ideas for our online spaces, and putting our passions and spiritual gifts to the best use. All in an effort to "make much of Jesus" in our circle of influence.
I think it's going to be an amazing time of inspiration and networking with other women who are pursuing some of the same dreams as I am. Have you seen the list of speakers?!
Are you by chance going too? If so, please let me know so I can check out your blog and get to know you.
